Purpose

The purpose of the Inner City Culture League, Inc. is to create an awareness of the benefits of the arts and culture in the academic development of community youth and their families.

History

Founded in 1991 by Dover City Councilman Reuben Salters, The Inner city Cultural League, Inc. fills a void that had never been occupied in the Central Delaware Community. The League began programs that would create an awareness of arts and culture in our children and their families. The League is an educational organization specially created to develop an awareness of the arts in our inner city citizens, especially the youth of the community. This awareness is deemed valuable to a community that has been denied exposure to the fine arts. By placing great emphasis on educational advancement through the arts, the Inner City Cultural League, Inc. seeks to build a network of community agencies that will facilitate a higher level of learning and personal achievement in our youth. The League is actively involved in the holistic approach to personal, artistic, cultural, academic and economic development. The knowledge of the culture of a people and an awareness of contributions made by artistically talented individuals to that culture engender pride in an otherwise arts starved community.

Location

The Inner City Cultural League Studio is located at 54 S. Kirkwood Street, Dover, Delaware 19904.
